JUNIOR WORLD CUP SKILLS SPECTACULAR 2010
The Club held the Junior World Cup Skills Spectacular on Saturday 27th March at Berry Park Mt Colah under the guidance of our Premier League and All Age Mens players. The day began with the U6's, U7's and U8's going through 4 different skill stations including passing, trapping, dribbling and shooting. By the time our U9's, U10's and U11's rolled up to begin, our coaches seemed to be right in the swing of it and the kids seemed to be having a great time. The day finished with the U12's and U14's going through their skill stations before the coaches decided to challenge the youngsters to a game. The kids eventually triumphed in a close match by 5 goals to 4. The feedback so far from the parents has been positive and I think that on the back of this feedback we will be including it in our season schedule for next year.
I have to give a huge thanks to our Premier League and All Age players who gave up their time to come down and help the kids out and gave something back to the club. Those players being Brendan DeGuara, Hakki Unver, Jason Brown, Todd Ferguson, Chris Hillege, Daniel Hillege, Cameron Bird, Nathan Mapledoram, Alex Beck, Mark McKendrick, Rob Kirk and Rishi Halkoree. Most of these guys have never coached any kids before but from what I saw I think they did a great job and were able to connect with the kids brilliantly.
Thankyou to our hard working BBQ and Canteen team of Chris Hemming, Richard Pilgrim, Karen Hemming, Jordan Kirk and Michael Pursche for keeping everyones stomachs full with sausage sandwiches, drinks and coffee. Thankyou to our Junior Vice President Robyn Peterson for getting the information out there to the coaches and managers which ensured a great turnout. Im sorry if I missed anybody out but I thank you for your help as well.
Our Boot Exchange kicked into gear and I saw some families happily leaving used boots and taking some away again for their kids which is exactly as we wanted it to happen. It's a great way to pass on boots that you no longer have a need for and also save yourself some money in not having to buy a new pair of boots every year. I am still in possession of 12 pairs of boots and 4 pairs of shin pads. If you are interested in any of the pairs for your child please email me (Ryan McKendrick) at rynomck@hotmail.com
